Privacy and security

We build tilsam for children. That's why privacy isn't an afterthought, it's a cornerstone. Here's exactly how we think, in plain language. The full version lives in the privacy policy.

What we never collect

No diagnoses, no health data. tilsam is made for families where school takes extra energy, but we never record anything about diagnoses. The field doesn't even exist in the database.
No personal identity number. We don't need it, so we never ask for it.
No grades or assessments. You can mark passed/not passed for your own follow-up, but we never store grades or teachers' assessments.
No connection to the school's platforms required. You own your own picture.

What we keep, and why

A first name or nickname for the child, and their year, so the right plan is shown. A nickname is enough.
The schoolwork you add: homework, tests, submissions and presentations, with their dates.
Your email and login so you and your family can reach your plan.
Stockholm, Sweden

Where your data lives: in the EU

Your child's data is stored and processed within the EU, in data centres in Stockholm. None of the child's data is sent to the US for storage.

The AI runs in Stockholm too, in the EU region and not against American AI services. We chose that deliberately, precisely so the child's data stays in Europe.

AI that helps, never decides. It reads what you write and suggests, and you confirm. Whether and when a reminder is sent is always decided by our own, tested core.
The AI sees a minimum. Only your school text, the list of subjects and today's date. Never the child's name, never anything about health.
Two peripheral services touch the US: push notifications and the website's sign-up form. Only a device token and the email you type in yourself go there, never the child's data.

Only your family sees your family

Every family is fully separated from every other. Only the adults you've invited yourself can see your child's plan, locked at the database level and not just in the app. If the child lives in two homes, both homes can share the same plan.

If you meet tilsam through school
A teacher who invites you can send the class's term plan as suggestions you confirm yourselves. The teacher can never see your child's plan, answers or anything else from the app. The barrier is built into the system's architecture, not a permission. You approve the link when you accept, and can revoke it at any time in the settings. How the teacher side works →

You own your data. See, change, delete. Delete the account from inside the app and the child's data is removed. Ask for a copy at any time.
Consent, and never ads aimed at children. The child's account is created together with a guardian who consents. We never show ads aimed at children.
No trackers, no selling. No ad networks, no profiling, no cookies on this site. We never sell your data, to anyone, ever.
Error monitoring without personal data. To fix bugs we use crash reporting in the EU, which receives technical errors but never personal data.
